The Amity Singers of Jersey, was founded in 1973 by John Farnon, mainly to sing music from the Renaissance. But now, after more than 40 years the repertoire has broadened, and includes folk songs, Spirituals, and a lot of twentieth century sacred and secular music. The choir -
The Amity Singers regularly visits France during the summer months to sing in some of Brittany and Normandy’s beautiful churches. In 2003 though to celebrate their 30th anniversary, they visited Prague, and were delighted to be able to sing with the Prague Singers who were winners of Jersey’s International Choir Festival in 2002.
Upon her retirement from music teaching at Beaulieu Convent School in July 2007, Elizabeth took over the direction of the choir while her husband John now enjoys just singing!
